Today we would like to inform you again about important developments at eBlocker:

eBlockerOS 4 beta test started
After a successful internal test phase, we are now opening the beta test of eBlockerOS 4 to others. If you have a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 with at least 2GB RAM and a separate SD card, you can download the new OS image here in the forum post and help us hunting for bugs. Please note, however, that the beta version cannot yet transfer all data from an older eBlockerOS version. Previous backups are compatible with eBlockerOS 4, but some data will be missing.

Easy migration from eBlockerOS 3 to eBlockerOS 4
To make the migration to eBlockerOS 4 as easy as possible, we are currently working on a complete backup function for all settings. This backup will make it very easy even for technical beginners to switch to the new eBlockerOS.

Hardware recommendation for eBlockerOS 4
|
Our tests have shown that a Raspberry Pi 4 is sufficient for Internet connections with speeds of up to 500 Mbit/s. The Raspberry Pi 5 can handle the full 1,000 Mbit/s bandwidth of its network adapter.
More than 1 Gbit/s is only possible on virtual machines with corresponding 2.5 Gbit/s network connections. In any case, 2 GB RAM is required for eBlockerOS 4.

Why the release is taking so long
As you might know, eBlocker is a non-profit project that relies on voluntary engagement. Unfortunately, we can't keep up with the software development on a volunteer basis alone. But with your support, we can speed up development to implement the last few outstanding tasks. Help us finish eBlockerOS 4 faster and support us with a donation—or by working with us.
