Today, we have very important news for you:

Community vote: restriction of daily updates.
Due to the poor fundraising response in Q2, we asked you how we should finance our project in the future. The vote is clear with over 45%: Daily automatic updates should only be available for project supporters.
|
Important change
All current users will no longer receive daily automatic updates. This also applies to "Open Source" license users as well as "Lifetime" customers of the former eBlocker GmbH.
We realize that "Lifetime" users might not be happy about this, but we ask for your understanding, because our Open Source project unfortunately has no financial benefit from customers of the former eBlocker GmbH. Please keep in mind: without our Open Source initiative, a "Lifetime" eBlocker would have been useless a long time ago.

Daily updates for supporters only
All supporters who donated at least 50€ in the last 12 months or who are actively involved in the project team have received new license keys via email shortly before this newsletter. They will continue to receive automatic daily updates after license activation.
|
We invite everyone else to make a continuous donation of at least 5€ per month. As a gratitude they will immediately receive a new license key and thus continue to get access to automatic daily updates.
|
By the way: If you have donated less than 50€ so far, the system will recognize your donation based on your email address and you will automatically receive a corresponding license key, as long as you donate continuously again now.

Sufferers: Anonymous donors
It's really a pity in this context that we can't send new license keys to previous anonymous donors because of their anonymity. As an anonymous donor, please refrain from making any inquiry in this matter, as we have no way of verifying your donation and manually sending you the key. We deeply and sincerely regret this, as your anonymity is very important to us!

Good news: eBlockerOS remains free of charge
eBlockerOS will of course remain free and open source. We also stick to our principles and continue the voluntary development just like before. Manual updates are still possible for everyone and at any time. If you update manually every day, you will have the same free protection as before. Unlike originally planned, manual updates are now even updated daily and not only once a month.

Many new features in eBlockerOS 2.7
In the night of August 25th all eBlockers have been updated to eBlockerOS 2.7. This version contains many new features, like the Personal Device Firewall sponsored by the German DEVK insurances, in a first beta version. Read more on our blog.

Personal words from the eBlocker co-founder
Finally, we would like to point out a blog article by co-founder Christian, in which he commented on the new funding strategy from his point of view and explains some background information about our motivation.

Long-term project continuation
We are very confident this change will allow us to financially stabilize and operate our altruistic project in the long term.
