Dear Newsletter Subscriber,

At the beginning of the year, we have a few tips for you and will share the latest news about eBlockerOS development.

Status of eBlockerOS 4 Development
The newly introduced CoreDNS service in eBlockerOS 4 has proven itself in our tests. However, a so-called memory leak occurred during long-term operation, which we fortunately managed to identify and fix in December. At the same time, we've completed the "renovations" on the license server and are planning to put it into operation soon.
However, eBlockerOS 4 is far from finished. Next, we will integrate the eBlocker software into the current Linux release "Debian Bookworm." Additionally, we are expanding the backup functionality so that all settings are retained during the upgrade to eBlockerOS 4, making migration from the White Cube easier. If no unforeseen problems arise, we hope to complete all work in the first quarter and release eBlockerOS 4 after extensive testing in the second quarter.

Annoyed by Cookie Banners? Just Click Accept! - eBlocker does the Rest
Everyone is annoyed by the endless banners asking for tracking consent. After all, it’s not made easy for users to reject them. The good news for eBlockerOS users: You don’t have to search long for the "Reject" button. Just click on "Accept."
eBlockerOS automatically ensures that you won’t be tracked despite accepting the banner. And if the banners still bother you, we recommend enabling the eBlockerOS Cookie Banner Blocker (Settings > Blocker > Pattern Tracker Blocker > Enable Consent & Cookie Banner Blocker). This way, many standard banners will already be blocked, and your browsing experience will be even more relaxed.

eBlocker Key Figures & Results of the Last Donation Appeal
eBlockerOS is likely used by tens of thousands of users today, though we don’t know the exact number since we don’t track anything. What we do know is that we receive approximately 1,000 donations annually, with an average donation of ~$60. This usually only narrowly covers our operating costs. For instance, roughly 3% goes to PayPal or credit card processing fees, and another 19% goes to VAT, which we must remit to tax authorities. As a result, less than $50,000 net per year remains to fund the entire project: server operations, license costs, ongoing development, accounting, year-end audit expenses, and various "mandatory fees."
That’s why we’re especially grateful that 65 donors responded to our December appeal, raising around $4,000. Thanks to these donations, we hope to manage the typically slow first financial quarter.
Would you like to support us financially or contribute as part of the team? Here you’ll find more information about the opportunities.

No Daily Updates Despite Donating? Activation Is All It Takes!
You’ve donated for a license key but aren’t receiving daily automatic updates? No problem: In most cases, your eBlocker simply needs to be activated with your donation key (starting with "DONOR"). To do this, go to the "License & Update" settings, and click the "Activate New License" button. Rest assured, all your existing settings will remain intact after activation.

All the best
Boris, Christian and the entire eBlocker team
