Hello Newsletter Subscriber,
Here are the most important news about our latest developments:
eBlockerOS 2.6.3 maintenance and security update As part of the eBlockerOS maintenance activities, we have updated all open source components as well as the underlying Linux operating system. This improves the security and stability of the eBlocker system. eBlockerOS 2.6.3 already contains these improvements. All eBlockers with activated automatic updates have already received the update in the night of July 20, 2021.

New funding model Due to the weak donation response (only ~50% cost coverage for Q2), we've discussed different funding & savings options in the team meeting. We've decided that everyone in our community project should have a vote on which option to implement. You are invited to vote and have a voice in the future of eBlocker. On August 31st, 2021 we will close the poll and then start the implementation. By the way: If you want to learn more about our history and vision before you vote, we recommend our new blog article.

eBlockerOS 2.7 alpha in test Since end of June we are testing the eBlockerOS 2.7 alpha version, which will particularly include Remote Dashboards, Personal Device Firewall (PDFW) and Auto Trust App (ATA) as new features. Especially devices without display (like IoT) can be controlled easier via the Remote Dashboard and traffic can be restricted individually via the PDFW.
Our tests shockingly show how important the new PDFW analysis and blocking function is. After all, not only SmartTVs, but also a lot of apps are real "babblers". Also with ATA, the results are very good and many apps that previously only worked with activation of the respective Trusted App now run completely automatically. Currently, we are still optimizing the detection of special app trackers to provide maximum tracker protection for all apps. However, we do not expect a public beta version until September.
New collaborations We are happy to announce that we now support the Tracking-Free Ads Coalition of the EU. As you know, eBlocker already blocks all "tracking ads". However, the coalition wants to create legal regulations in future. With these they want to prohibit tracking ads in general. There is still a long way to go - and we are happy to support the coalition in this process.
Thanks to all supporters We would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated international team of volunteers. You are simply great and the cooperation is really a lot of fun!
Also we would like to thank our donors and especially our generous donors, permanent donors and supporters. Only thanks to you we have come so far. It's awesome that you altruistically support our project, so thousands of users worldwide can protect themselves for free.
1000 thanks to all of you!
Greetings from Hamburg Boris, Christian & the whole eBlocker team
PS: For eBlocker beginners we have written new "Setup Instructions", which summarize all important aspects for the first configuration. Also for longtime users this is definitely worth a look to achieve even more protection.
