Hello Newsletter Subscriber,

Here is a short update about the most important eBlocker developments:

eBlockerOS 2.7 in sight: PDFW in internal alpha test
The development of the Personal Device Firewall (PDFW), which is funded by the German DEVK insurances, is progressing. We plan to enter the internal alpha test by the end of June. If everything goes well, we will release eBlockerOS 2.7 beta for all users at the end of July. This version will also include the Auto Trust App as beta to significantly improve compatibility with native apps.

Crowdfunding course canceled due to discrimination
To our great regret, we have cancelled the lecture aimed at a crowdfunding campaign to finance the faster development of eBlockerOS 3. Due to discriminating offenses of a student, which have not been excused until today - neither by the private university - a course continuation was not compatible with our mindset. As a result, unfortunately, there will now be no crowdfunding campaign this year. More on this in our blog post.

eBlockerOS 3 Roadmap
Through the revenue from the crowdfunding we wanted to accelerate the development of our eBlockerOS 3 Roadmap (see blog post) significantly. We hold on to the roadmap even without crowdfunding, but the extensive features will take a very long time to implement by volunteer engagement alone. The only way to speed it up is via feature sponsors, like the German DEVK insurances, who are committed to protecting all users.

Do you or your company also want to sponsor a feature?
Then we are looking forward to your email: partner@eBlocker.org

Updates for donors only?
Although we were able to cover the operating costs last year through donations alone and have gained many new eBlocker users since then, this quarter looks very bad. For Q2, we have only received just under 15% to cover costs so far. Our vision to offer eBlocker free of charge to everyone is unfortunately threatening to fail.

In case donations will remain so low, we plan to provide daily updates and new features only to donors who have donated at least 50€ in the last 12 months. These donors will automatically receive a license key to continue receiving daily updates and new features.

Of course the eBlocker will continue to run without a new license key, but these users would have to look for alternative filter lists themselves. Commercially licensed filters for malware protection are unfortunately not available for free and also the parental control filters as well as new features like the upcoming Personal Device Firewall will then not be available for all users anymore.

We still hope that this step will not be necessary and we can solidarily continue supporting the financially weaker users in protecting their families as we have done so far.
Thank you for your understanding and support!

Best regards from Hamburg
Boris, Christian & the whole eBlocker team

PS: In June an update of eBlockerOS 2.6 is expected to be released to update the underlying Linux operating system to the very latest version to keep eBlockerOS secure.
