Hello Newsletter Subscriber,
At the end of the year we have many news for you:
eBlockerOS 2.10 postponed to January
Even though the release 2.10 is practically final, unfortunately there have been some unforeseen delays, so that we will start internal testing by the end of this week. Then we usually need about two weeks of testing time and if we don't find any major bugs, we will be able to release right at the beginning of the new year. We are very sorry for the delay, but we want to ensure a high quality and a frictionless eBlocker operation and therefore we hope for your understanding. Thank you for this! 👍

eBlockerOS blocks even without icon
In the light of improvements implemented in eBlockerOS 2.10, we would like to point out an important fact: Unlike ad blocker plugins, eBlockerOS works on network level and blocks all unwanted requests - even from all apps and the operating system. Due to technical browser changes or special website programming, it can sometimes happen that the eBlocker icon or the number of blocked trackers are not displayed correctly. Nevertheless, the trackers & co. are all blocked correctly.
The correct number of blocked requests is always displayed in the Dashboard and with the Analysis Tool (Settings>Blocker>Analysis Tool) you can verify the correct operation at any time. With release 2.10 we have further improved the display of trackers in the icon, but there will always be some sites where no icon is shown. Don't worry about that. Your eBlocker will protect you anyway!

eBlocker Open Source birthday coming up
On December 23, 2022 our non-profit project celebrates birthday. Three years after we rescued the eBlocker technology from the ashes of insolvency, we are very happy today to have taken this step. We are especially proud of our great team of supporters, who are pushing eBlockerOS forward on a voluntary basis and with a lot of enthusiasm. Thanks guys, you are awesome! 😊
A very special thank you goes to our continuous donors as well as the DEVK insurances, because only through their financial support we have been able to cover the operating costs so far and thus ensure the further development. Thank you for your trust over many years! Especially in the current turbulent times, it is great we can count on your continued support for our ambitious project. 👍
Good to know: All donors and volunteer supporters benefit from daily updated filters curated by us, which not only protect against trackers and ads, but also against malware and phishing thanks to commercial Malware Patrol filters.

This year we have achieved a lot again: With eBlockerOS 2.9 we finally released the YouTube and Video ad blocker together with important improvements against fingerprinting in spring. This was followed by the release for virtual machines to run eBlockerOS on practically every computer. Despite numerous challenges, the IPv6 support sponsored by German DEVK insurances made good progress, although we had hoped for a faster development. Nevertheless, we did not disregard security and besides daily updates of our filters, we constantly updated the operating system software as well as eBlockerOS and kept it on the latest security level.
Also, a lot has happened behind the scenes: We met as a team for the first time in person, further optimized the collaboration processes and are thrilled by the initiative of individual supporters: Especially @CalimerO's push for a German-language support forum was very well received and many users could be helped in their native language. Thank you @CalimerO for your great efforts!

eBlockerOS 3 with IPv6 in spring
Despite the many challenges, we are nearing the point where we will test an early alpha version of eBlockerOS 3 with IPv6 support immediately after the release of eBlockerOS 2.10 in the circle of supporters. We hope for a positive feedback and not too many bugs - but there is also a lot of work ahead of us until the final release. We plan to release eBlockerOS 3 in spring 2023, if no unexpected problems occur. As always, we will keep you informed about the further progress via newsletter.
At this point we would like to say goodbye for this year and wish everyone a happy holiday season, a wonderful end of the year and a peaceful 2023.
All the very best, warm greetings and until next year
