Both for Domain- and Pattern-Blocking there are 3 lists, Ad Tracker Malware, which are “created by the eBlocker and cannot be edited”. Without adding other lists found on the internet, these ‘eBlocker-lists’ function good as they are, or even better (?) when left alone.
Is info available about these lists (origin, availability, updates, quality etc.)?
At commercial eBlocker times we licensed different lists and most list providers prohibited to show lists contents.
Even though we are all about transparency we can not break the license agreements.
But of course we can split lists in an "open source" and "licensed" part in a future update. If that's a priority for you: please add it to the feature requests forum.
Doesn’t the question ‘open source’ or ‘licensed’ depend on the extent in which the funding for ‘licensed’ can be realized? And if not (worst case condition), what is thenthe future of eBlocker?
which the funding for ‘licensed’ can be realized
That‘s not correct in all cases. For example the BPjM list is free of charge - but the license does not permit to reveal the contents of the list. And behind the scene we are trying to negotiate licenses for little or no money... but we certainly may not reveal the lists contents.
The future of eBlocker does not depend on licenses rather than maintaining the security of the technology. That is our focus - and we are very confident to get this funded. It‘s a matter of the number of users using eBlocker. The more users the more funding.
Once more people help spreading the word it will be easy. So do your part and spread 😍 - same like the virus 😉 but for the good 😎
