Hello, I've already searched the forum,
but couldn't find anything suitable.
If there is already an entry on the topic, please post here.

Now to my concern:
I successfully operate a VPN access for my mobile device on the FritzBox.
I have successfully integrated the eBlocker into my home network with a FritzBox 7490 and it works wonderfully for all clients in the home network.
Only the VPN connection does not appear as an independent protected device in the list, but I see the home network address of the VPN access under the device entry of the FritzBox.

How can I integrate the VPN access into the eBlocker as an independent device?

@eBloeckerchen Simply stop using fritzbox VPN and rather use eBlocker Mobile to access your LAN (this is a VPN connection to eBlocker). Then eBlocker will protect your mobile device while giving you full / same control as for all other LAN devices. 😎 🤩

@random I’m using iPhone and iPad for mobile, is there a chance to make them connect automatically via eblocker mobile when leaving home wifi? I found a solution to do so with FRITZ!Box vpn, but not OpenVPN for eblocker mobile :-/

but not OpenVPN for eblocker mobile

Of course OpenVPN (on my iOS devices) keeps the VPN connection to the eBlocker. No matter whether you are connected via WLAN or 4G/5G etc.

I've just checked it again: Just switch OpenVPN on and it stays on. It's completely transparent and VPN connection is kept while switching between networks. No problem.

Then - of course - even when you are at home you are routing all traffic via VPN thru the eBlocker. Speed is the same as if you are mobile - and as long as you don't need low latency for online gaming on iPad it's a well working solution 😉

@alexsuff

It works for me for more than 1 year...

I use OPENVPN Client on Android, iPhone, Samsung Table and Windows PC.

😀

@random thanks! I’ll try that. But doesn’t that consume much battery power?

@alexsuff EVERYTHING uses power. eBlocker saves you bandwidth and rendering time and preserves your privacy by the way. This saves power in many aspects!

But there is always a price you pay. Or use the on/off switch if power/convenience ratio is not acceptable for you. You might even stop using whatsapp as a result...

Seriously, I don‘t see where you are heading? You ask for a solution. You got it.

If you feel like contributing, test drive it and share your power consumptions here. Or help with a different solution if you got one.

THX!

@random wow - I did not mean to offend anyone. I was just asking for a maybe more elegant and power saving way like this one here

https://nerd.one/vpn-on-demand-on-iphone-and-ipad/

for OpenVPN protocol with eBlocker mobile. Just when it’s asked for, but automatically. That’s it. I’ll still be looking for it...

@alexsuff No offense. My time for this project is just limited and I try to save it for real issues...

Actually I don't understand the difference to what openVPN does and why this is "more elegant" 🤔

But seriously, I'm super happy with the current solution and a power plug is always next to me 😀

If you would evaluate the "elegance" - also in terms of power consumption - and share results of your experiences here: you are very welcome, as this about contributing (and it's saving my power too 😉)

THX!
