Do I understand correctly that the eblocker image is still based on buster? Is buster still supported or would it be necessary to migrate to bullseye? Here https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases I have the impression that buster is EOF. If that is the case, what do i have to do?

@tdq We are providing the eBlockerOS images currently based on debian buster. This combo has been tested well, works great and at the very moment there is no need to upgrade to bullseye as buster gets all security updates.

In case you are a developer you can compile eBlockerOS based on a linux of your choice. Of course then you run eBlockerOS at your own risk but we can not support such an installation if errors occur. 😉

Nevertheless, as a developer you are highly invited to join our team and share your bullseye experiences. 👍

THX!

@tdq

Thanks very much for your post.

As eBlockerOS is tightly woven into the underlying Linux, a platform upgrade (Buster->Bullseye) is a major effort. We need to make sure all eBlockers (Banana Pi M2+, Raspberry Pi 2-4 as well as the VM-Edition) run smoothly in any environment. Honestly, I‘m not even sure Bullseye is available for the 7 years old Banana Pi at all. 🤔

If you feel like tackling this project, I can only underline @random’s invitation: Come join us and help to make it happen! You are very welcome!!

For the time being, we stay focused on IPv6 for eBlocker 3 and will keep the Buster base as long as possible.

Sorry, currently it is not realistic to participate in an open source project. The family still needs my attention.
My question arose because I had missed something again, namely that I had missed another update. I thought buster was already end of life. But now I have seen that there is still an LTS. https://wiki.debian.org/LTS
Thanks for your work
