Context: Eblocker 2.5.8, Rasp 4, no https
When you get into the eblocker from a non Parent device, even there is the option to pause the eblocker for the device, this does not work, and this is what I would expect, that regular devices wouldn't be able to bypass system configuration, but as I see the option to PAUSE, and also the ability to bypass device tracking rules, just by whitelisting domains, I wonder if the ability to pause eblocker is not working on purpose or is not working because of a bug.
Please be more clear of what you try to achieve the steps what you have done and what you would rather expect.
Sorry, but I'm lost in your super long sentence and have no real idea what you are talking about.
Guessing: If you found out that the Dashboard on a device you have assigned to a child works differently: it's because it's a child's device. But please, share a screenshot or such before I start suspecting of what you might have experienced...

@random, ok, I'll try to be more concise.
1. Dashboard gives the option to Pause the eblocker, if you are not in the parent device, it just doesn't work. I just wanted to check that this is not going to change.
2. Childs can add whitelist domains.
3. Childs could potentially reset admin password. How? Following the don't remember process.

No. It‘s a feature.
2. Childs can add whitelist domains.
Yes, for trackers/ads but not for domains on parental controls list. Otherwise it‘s a bug.

Parents forget passwords. How should eBlocker distinguish them from kids?
If kids change pass, parents devices will be notified with a message. Same if kids remove eBlocker (i.e. in auto mode), but again parents will get notified about removal. In both cases parents need to talk...😡 eBlocker can not take over that part, yet 😉
You are welcome to propose a better way, but all this is intended and thought thru (by people having no kids 🤔)

@random ok then with 1 and 2, and regarding point 3, I would suggest the following procedure in the assumption that there are in place some backend service, like the one managing licenses.
1. When someone clicks on forgot password, this will trigger an API call to the backend servers to send a PIN to the registration email.
2. Then with that PIN you can fill a form with the new password and the PIN
3. Once submitted the backend server can verify the PIN and if so, allow the eblocker to reset the password.
Hope this helps, I can help with the backend if it is in ruby 🙂
you are Wellcome.
@lcastrillo eBlocker is designed „privacy by design“ and there is no central backend and we don‘t know anything about the user („zero knowledge“ principle).
If you plan to add this as „backend“ in eBlockerOS, it can probably be done. Needs some SMTP service and a provider account - and some DB handling plus GUI etc. Probably just a few days for a talented dev.
I personally feel we have pretty much to do for improving eBlocker‘s functionality (Static global blocking lists, template based new device handling / intrusion handling, element hiding, etc.). With these features we‘ll make thousands more safe and happier. So I‘d rather talk to my kids 😉
But hey, eBlocker is a community project - if you want to improve the password reset function, you are more than welcome 🤗 🤩 😎
