Some websites have server side cookie walls. This type of cookie wall cannot be circumvented by CSS element hiding, as the server won't send the content at all unless a certain cookie is set. It would be useful if one could configure cookies in eBlocker, so the Squid proxy inserts them in the HTTP request.
Examples:
t3n.de checks server side for cookie t3n_consent=3
www.golem.de checks server side for cookie golem_consent20=simple|220101
www.derstandard.de checks server side for cookie DSGVO_ZUSAGE_V1=true
Thanks much for your contribution.
Actually, we‘ve discussed this case already briefly in yesterday's supporter meeting 👍😁 Brilliant minds think alike 😉
You might know there is a long way to go from a corse idea to an implemented feature - and our resources are very limited.
So, in case you feel like contributing your knowledge and conceive this feature request further, I would like to invite you to join us. Just email to voluntary at eblocker.org
Thanks a lot!
You're welcome. Just trowing in ideas, without any expectations. I know you already have a bunch of work waiting.
As an additional benefit such "persistent" cookies allow for saving site preferences e.g. duckduckgo.com/settings
Another example is www.zeit.de, this server expects cookie zonconsent=2022-02-22T13:37:00.000Z (or any other date). Maybe a forum section should be added where users can report such websites, to build a list. There is no universal solution for this type of cookie wall.
@wunder Just so you don't miss the link: @benne has added a forum´s post where you (and others) can post your suggestions for consent-cookies: https://eblocker.org/community/main-forum/cookie-settings-to-by-pass-cookie-walls/#post-5490
THX!
