Dear all,

I am new to Android and the usage of eblocker.

I have downloaded and installed the eblocker certificate (crt) in my android phone. It shows up under the user part of the trusted credentials.

But when I use the fennec browser I cannot access a website via https. Zeit.de, Spiegel.de are examples. It seems the certificate is not recognised. I get the error that the certificate authority is not trusted.

The settings page of eblocker tells me the certificate is not installed. But I don’t know what else to do to install it.

Can someone help me how to install the certificate properly?

Client OS
Browser
eBlocker hardware
Client OS version
Browser version
eBlockerOS version

@newbie Please check this post: https://eblocker.org/community/main-forum/https-pages-not-accessible-with-firefox-on-android-11/#post-2798

BTW: there is a search function on the right hand side of the forum if you feel like checking this out in future. I just searched for „fennec“…

Please report back if this solved your issue.

THX!

Does anyone have the issue that fennec resets this entry regularly?

Does someone know how to make it permanent?

„Millions“ maybe not, but that‘s the world we live in. You have to make a choice 😉

Honestly, I would rather buy some cheap Chinese phone if it‘s not based on Google code (like android, the pest and worst for privacy).

THX!

Hi,
yes - I have also noticed this behavior for about 4 weeks. I suspect it is related to an update of Fennec. So I'm waiting patiently to see if anything is corrected. Otherwise it's time to analyze the problem more intensively. Findings I would report here.

@random 🙂 ok, hundred thousands. I am in the process of getting out of my golden cage. Have installed lineageOS on a fairphone, have installed GrapheneOS on a pixel. I will stick to the latter in the medium term, but I need to find solutions for some topics. It is not a sprint it is a marathon or a lifetime job to get out of this privacy mess called internet 😉

That's why I got eBlocker, thinking about pfsense, have Little Snitch and much more. And looking at all individually, reading kuketz-blog, others, is fine. But combinations sucks. Example: Lots of people recommend to use DoT on Firefox. A few chapters or weeks later they recommend Little Snitch on mac. What most dont say is that both together doesnt work. I have gotten deep into this and I test a lot in my spare time. And it is frustrating.

Hello to all patient Fennec users (Android) 😎
With version 90.1.1 there is a possibility to set the setting permanently 🤗
For this you have to set the debug mode in Fennec. In the "about" window tap 5 x on "fennec Logo". After that there is an additional option in the settings called "Secret Settings" with 2 subitems. One of them is "use third party CA certificates" - and with that it works permanently for me (at the moment).
It could be that FF now also offers this option.

Feel free to try and post the result here, so that we all have something from it.
Good luck
