Hello at all,
I am trying to setup a NextCloud on a second Raspberry Pi.
The actual problem: I can not reach my NextCloud from outside my home network.
Is it possible that eBlocker is the reason for it?
I have set "port fowarding" within my router to NextCloud on my Raspberry and I use DynDNS (the same as I use for eBlocker Mobile".
Thanks for any help.
@jogi is it working, when you turn off the eblocker? 🙂
What is your setup? Is eblocker the dhcp server?
There are a lot of open questions... what have you already tried/done?
Regards
@jogi You can use eBlocker Mobile to access all your home network devices (including a nextcloud instance). There is no need for an additional port forwarding (and for security reasons this should be avoided anyhow).
Please follow the setup instructions for eBlocker Mobile and make sure you grant proper access rights for your network to your client: https://eblocker.org/en/docs/can-i-also-access-devices-in-my-network/
A personal advice: I'd use a fixed IP for the nextcloud instance and setup everything (a nextcloud sync client, for instance) by IP (not DNS) to avoid any issues. BTW: I run the same nextcloud setup and it works flawlessly. 👍

@calimero:
- no, it is not working when I turn of ("Pause") the eBlocker. Or do you mean to shut it down?
- eBlocker is the current DHCP Server (not the router) and the Raspberry for NextCloud has a fixed IP-Adress in eBlocker OS.
@Random:
- with eBlocker Mobile running, I can reach my NextCloud from outside over the VPN Network connection. The Problem in this case is already that no one else (family from outside my home) uses eBlocker Mobile VPN over my eBlocker Mobile, so that I can not share any holiday pictures or files with them. That is the reason, while I am trying to setup port fowarding and make it reachable from outside independent from eBlocker Mobile VPN.
But eBlocker himself can not be the reason, while the connection from outside to a device within the home net is blocked, right?
At the moment I think, there is a problem with port fowarding by the FRITZ Box. Could it be?
@jogi Personally, I would highly recommend not to open nextcloud to the public as the bears severe security risks. Rather use a commercial nextcloud provider that is able to protect the nextcloud instance appropriately.
Nevertheless, you can disable your nextcloud instance for eBlocker under Settings>Devices. Pausing eBlocker only affects your current device - but not all devices (say, not your nextcloud). As eBlocker is an outbound firewall disabling your internal nextcloud shouldn't make any difference anyhow.

@jogi Thanks for some clarifications.
shutdown eBlocker is not a good idea, because it is your dhcp server, so the only way is disabling eblocker for the nextcloud device as random already said.
If this is still not working, you may have to use your router as dhcp again instead of eBlocker, if you really need nextcloud for external user access.

@Random:
Make sense what you say, maybe I will open up my eBlocker VPN for parts of my family from outside my flat.
eBlocker is not enabled for the Raspberry with NextCloud. This makes no sense in my opinion or does it?
For a moment and for testing I switched now back to FRITZ Box as DHCP and eBlocker is in "Automatic Mode)... Now I can reach my NextCloud from outside, but only over http. https adress can not be reached as before. In this case it is not a eBlocker issue, it seems to be an issue of FRITZ Box port forwarding. Maybe there is a problem in the FRITZ OS. I do not know for the moment.
@jogi as far as I am aware, FritzOS has an issue with that on 7.57, which could be fixed with 7.58. I am trying to find the article and post it, or you contact me via discord channel if you like.
Thanks for your tests and feedback! appreciate that

@jogi Updates:
1.) The actual FritzOS Issue with accessing your fritz from outside. This is why there are updates for nearly all devices from AVM.
2.) Do you have the external access to your fritz open? if yes, disable this and try nextcloud via https again.
3.) If IPv6 is enabled, please disable it internally and externally.
4.) If "Kindersicherung" is enabled as filter for your nextcloud, disable it / set it to "unlimited/unbegrenzt"
5.) Which Fritzbox with which OS version do you use?
@CalimerO:
I am using FritzOS 7.57 on a 7590.
Do you have the external access to your fritz open? -> everything is closed, no change
IPv6 is deactivated (in- and outside)
No "Kindersicherung" (it is set unlimited/unbegrenzt)
No newer FritzOS available.
@jogi Just checked my config (Fritz 5590) and my webserver (80&443) was also not working with the new FritzOS 7.58. I changed the both ports from extern 80 to 8080 and 443 to 4433 and checked again and it was working then.
After that I switched back to 80 and 443 and it was also working now. Can you verify this behaviour?

As much as I understand your problem I like to kindly remind you that this is the eBlocker forum. The help being asked and discussed is not eBlockerOS related at all - and you are abusing our forum very much unfortunately.
I kindly like to ask to move someplace else (ie. the AVM or nextcloud forum) to continue your conversation.
Thanks very much for your understanding.
@benne Hi Benne. Understood!
Then it would be good to push all the people to my discord channel, so they get help also for not directly related eBlocker issues, as it is absolutely neccessary to not only "solve" posts, without really solving issues.
Many thanks for your understanding

@calimero Since almost four years we are running this eBlockerOS only focussed forum. In case people asked questions beyond eBlockerOS we have always directed them to other sources. If you feel like answering general non eBlockerOS IT questions, I'm happy to guide people to your channel.
Nevertheless, I'm with @benne: let's keep our focus here on eBlockerOS only and not start lengthy off-topic support threads. This is more irritating than helpful for other eBlockerOS users.
To all users seeking general help with non eBlockerOS related IT issues: please direct your questions here: https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/inofficial-private-german-forum-launched-via-discord/#post-6143
