Hi all
I have a white cube which worked well until early 2019. Then I went away and now coming back I was shocked that eblocker GmbH is gone but happy it continues as open source.
Then, my OpenVPN profiles from protonvpn worked well, now, they don’t. I cant get them connected anymore. I did not change the passwords or anything. What has changed or what can I do to make them work in eblocker again?
The error message looks like this, which means nothing to me:
Fehler (Error)
Thu Aug 27 01:35:15 2020 NOTE: the current --script-security setting may allow this configuration to call user-defined scripts
Interestingly, when I use the openvpn config on my tunnelblick it works
@Gregor Possibly your VPN provider has updated it's setup. There were no changes to eOS 2.4 since.
eOS 2.5 (the Open Source version) is based on new Linux which fixes incompatibility with some VPN providers (supporting all new ciphers) as discussed here in the forum.
Unfortunately we are still experiencing eOS 2.5 stability issues on the white cube and can not release this to the public yet.
If you need Proton VPN urgently, I suggest getting a Raspi 4 where everything is stable and smooth.
@random thanks a lot. I mailed the vpn provider and sent them the error message. I am surprised that it works with the provider still, with Tunnelblick but not with eblocker. Which is a shame.
So lets wait and see what my vpn provider says. But I find it surprising because on eblocker and on my computers it is all the same.
@random I have downloaded the lastest openvpn config files from my provider. No change.
When I import them eblocker shows me
verb 0
in red.
Nothing else.
No idea. Sorry!
Maybe it's fixed in eOS 2.5 with the general Linux/SSL/OpenVPN update. Chances are good.
Keeping fingers crossed 😉
My provider told me they can't support me because eblocker is not a supported router. I wonder why it worked before and not anymore.
I would want to use eblocker as my vpn to the outside world and hide all my devices behind it. But what can I do. I need another solution. Either another vpn provider or another box.
I just wonder why their profiles also work with Tunnelblick but not with eblocker.
@gregor Stay calm and wait for the eOS 2.5 upgrade 😉
It‘s coming very very soon...
Yippie
With the 2.5.4 beta I could get some ProtonVPN profiles to work.
