I recently upgraded my internet contract to 1Gbit/s up and down. Now thinking about implementing a raspberry Pi with Eblocker in my network. Will the Eblocker software or a Raspberry Pi 4b limited my internetspeeds?

Maybe a NOOB question but cant figure it out online.

Client OS

@michiel193 Hi Michiel,

with a Raspberry Pi4 you should not see / have a limited internetspeed.

In my experience, it could only happen on a few sites, which have a lot of trackers online.

Regards

I have 200 Mbit/s downstream in theory. I get 120 Mbit/s on my iPad - eBlockerOS filtered with HTTPS and all standard eBlocker curated lists, plus YouTube ad-blocker enabled. All on a Raspi 4, 2GB, eBlockerOS 2.9. But maybe my WLAN is limiting here?

Your individual results may vary. 👍

BTW: You can always hit "Pause" or disable eBlocker for a certain device permanently, if you need the full bandwidth and want to trade your privacy instead 😉

Or if you want to take it seriously: Run eBlockerOS in a VM on a decent high-end server. Then the sky is your limit 🚀👍

THX!

@calimero I am looking for raspberry pi4b 2gb to install EblockerOS on. Good to read that your speeds aren't limited using Eblocker, @Random running a high end server is not exactly my idea...😉 Changing or disabling the Eblocker for certain devices when downloading is neither my plan.... What is your speed on your iPad without using Eblocker?

@michiel193 Indeed @Calimero is right. The WLAN bandwidth is pretty much the same (on a 200Mbit/sec downstream).

Screenshot without ads shows speed results with eBlocker enabled (for HTTPS). With ads = eBlocker in Pause:

Seems like Ads and Trackers (without using eBlocker) are even reducing bandwidth slightly - but results can vary a bit from measurement to measurement…

@michiel Would be great if you could share your eBlocker experience with 1GBit/s… and I especially wonder how much you will still get via WLAN. 🤔

I consider this topic solved for the moment and look forward to your results very much.

THX!

@michiel193 @random @calimero @all

To add to the thread, here are my results:

eBlockerOS 2.9.1 on Raspi4 2GB, 200/12 Mbit down/up (theoretical). Screenshot via WLAN on Win.

Screenshot 2022 09 02 171340

Looks pretty decent to me 👍 I am happy 😎 😀
