Hi, I have the problem that eBlocker blocks my wifi connections in my home network, see screenshot. I lived with it for quite some time, but now I have a new Fritzbox and a new android phone - and it happens again. So I think it is the eBlocker after all. But the problematic URL "gstatic.com" is in eBlocker's trusted website list, so why is eBlocker complaining? Does anyone have an idea what is the cause?

@benben24 I wonder why you are getting this message as gstatic.com is not on a tracker blocklist (from eBlocker) to my best knowledge. In case you have added custom blocklists you might want to double check these.

Nevertheless, there are several whitelists depending on the application and I'm not sure which you've used. See here for more backgrounbd: https://eblocker.org/community/feature-priorities/exception-rules-differently-for-different-devices/#post-6078

Last: There is a Trusted App "Google" you might want to enable if you are using Google services - even this is a bad choice for your privacy. This Google Trusted App also whitelists gstatic.com for HTTPS.

THX!

Thanks for your reply! Yes, gstatic.com is trusted already - its whitelisted - that's the reason why this is so confusing. I have also resetted all apps to standard, no more customizations, so the configurations get updated by the dialy eBlocker updates.

And the error is not from an specific app - its the wifi phone connection of the android phone to my home wifi. I cant use wifi when eBlocker is enabled. Actually - sometimes it works, sometimes not. This is not a permananent problem, it happens maybe 10 times a week.

Same problem on my former Samsung phone, and now same on my new Google Pixel phone.

And - the eBlocker button in the screenshot "Continue anyway" does not work at all. What helps is:

  1. I click the three dots in the upper right corner of the page in the screenshot
  2. Click: Use this network as is
  3. Then the eBlocker page disappears and wifi connects for now

I have no idea how to fix that...

Cheers!

@benben24 Unfortunately I have no idea about Android, but I‘m sure we have a couple of thousand Android users using eBlocker. They would have the same issue - but no one has shown up here. That‘s why I suspect some „individual“ config with your setup.

To verify:

  1. Go to Settings > HTTPS - Tab Trusted Websites. Type „gstatic“ in the search field. Take screenshot and share.
  2. Go to Settings > Blocker - Tab Advanced Settings. Take screenshot and share.

Then we take it from there. 👍

THX!

Awesome, thx for your offer to have a closer look! However, what you say is correct, this cant be a common problem, as other Android users do not have that issue. Therefore, if you cant see anything obvious in my attached screenshots I would probably do a factory reset, to avoid an intense troubleshooting :). Thx!

@benben24 Please change the Captive Portal Check (under Blocker in the screenshot above) back to the default ("... let eBlocker respond") and I'd guess the issue is history.

THX!
