he update went smoothly but the "white cube" doesn't work with it.
The function test reports that HTTP and HTTPS filtering as well as the
Pattern blockers don't work. As a result, the internet doesn't work. Manual update does not work either. In order to be able to continue surfing, the eBlocker must be temporarily deactivated.
Hi,
please look to further updates...
After the mainupdate there was some updates yesterday in the late evening

Thanks for the answer, but it doesn't solve the problem. The eBlocker can no longer be updated since the OS was updated. When I start a manual update, there is activity (recognizable by the rotating cursors), but then the message appears that the check for updates has failed. This is to be expected if the Internet cannot be reached due to not working HTTP and HTTPS filtering.
@haseimschnee Simply generate a new certificate (settings>https>certificate>renew) and install the new certificate properly in your clients. This will fix the issue.
THX!
Checking the security certificates was of course the first thing I did after the bug. The installed and newly generated certificate (eBlocker-Certificate-eblocker-2020-05-31.crt) does not solve the problem.
@haseimschnee Can we please go back to start as I have no idea from your desciption what the issue is.
Please state your environment first (s https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/before-posting-here-please-read/ )?
Then please describe step by step what you have done.
What you mean by: ?
As a result, the internet doesn't work
Your client can not access domains but it can reach eBlocker? (Which version is eBlocker showing?)
Have you tried pinging an external IP (i.e. executed on a shell "ping 1.1.1.1")?
Maybe this hint will help:
I now get the message regularly:
Unreliable DNS servers
The following server (s) respond slowly or unreliably: 127.0.0.1. This can interfere with Internet access.
This is surprising since I have activated the eBlocker's internal DNS firewall in the settings and handle DNS via TOR.
As for benne's answer, it seems to me
to confuse something. I have never postulated: "As a result, the internet doesn't work"
Here again the entire process so far:
The eBlocker shows another strange behavior. In the news on the Dasboard he suddenly presented me with a notification from March 21, 2019, i.e. from the time when I first started up the eBlocker.
have never postulated: "As a result, the internet doesn't work"
Well, just read your original post and you might want to rethink you answer 🤔
127.0.0.1 is the local loop address of your local device and not a DNS server (unless you’ve installed a local DNS / maybe some other blocker tool thats not running anymore?). So YES: this is the cause of (one) error...(Where do you get the error message btw?)
Nevertheless, go to settings>dns firewall
Switch firewall dns to internet provider (default)
Switch fw off. Wait 10sec. Switch back on.
“Internet is back“?
Tipp: No need to repost the conversation, I have a scroll bar 😉
notification from March 21, 2019,
Make sure eBlocker can access the internet at boot to fetch current time. To me all this sounds as if your DNS settings are messed up.
I‘m happy to come back and help if all open questions (see above ending with „?“) are answered.
Thanks much!
Sorry for not answering right away, I had to make some preparations for handyman work starting next week.
Now to the open questions:
The version of the eblocker OS is 2.5.6 - displayed in the eBlocker settings
I have access to the eBlocker, both the settings and the dashboard
I have access to the other network resources in my network (e.g. NAS or printer) (local IP 192.168.xxx.xxx)
I only have access to the Internet from the clients that are monitored by the eBlocker when the eBlocker is deactivated.
From clients that are not monitored by the eBlocker (e.g. receivers)
I have access to the Internet even when the eBlocker is activated
The tip with the DNS firewall was of no use.
Sorry, the "no access to the internet" should actually mean:
"... with activated eBlocker.
The router and the eBlocker always have access to the Internet - even when booting (they are always switched on)
The update of the eBlocker OS to version 2.5.6 took place yesterday in the late afternoon. The update to 2.4.10 was successful and automatic and until then I had access to the Internet even with activated eBlocker.
The update to 2.5.6 took about 50 minutes in this sequence:
Download - installation - verification - data import.
The security certificates in the active clients are up to date.
A restart of the eBlocker brought no change.
The error messages (DNS and "old date") were displayed in the dashboard.
I‘m still not sure about the clients. OS/Browser? Which are working, which are not?
1. Make sure eBlockers date is correct. There are several posts on this in this forum for your reference. Unless this is fixed eBlocker will not work properly!
2. Reboot eBlocker until settings>system>events shows correct date for reboot event.
3. Then disable eBlocker dns firewall.
4. Check client „internet access“ (you might need to reboot client first)
If still not working:
Please post network settings of your eBlocker.
Also post network settings of client (especially DNS and gateway settings).
Have you tried „ping 1.1.1.1“ on a shell of a non working client? (if you don‘t understand, then ignore question and answer just everything else)
Ping 1.1.1.1 returns a result. The eBlocker was also developed to protect the private sphere, e.g. B. by camouflage.
Please understand that I will not give any information about the topology and structure of my network, the ISPs and routers and also no information about the operating systems or browsers used in this public forum. Nevertheless, I understand that you need this information to isolate the possible error. So I want to keep such special conversation out of this public forum. I am ready to provide such information and details via my email account, which is listed in my profile. Any findings can then be published here in the forum. Is that a feasible path for you?
@haseimschnee No, not feasible. Support is given via forum ONLY. Sorry.
There is no need to share private data. „Win 10, FireFox 80.1“ is not very private?! Neither are your internal network settings. Put your tin foil hat down, buddy 😉
BTW: If ping 1.1.1.1 "returns a result" you have internet access. DNS is the issue as @benne already suspected.
There are clear instructions above. Just follow and we all get happy again 😉 😊 😎
@haseimschnee Even I suspect a DNS issue/misconfig you might want to check this out: https://eblocker.org/community/bugs-features/known-issue-ip-and-mac-address-change-after-eos-2-5-upgrade/
Regarding DNS: Switching eBlocker's DNS firewall off (as said above) - and after it works, switch back on - should fix the issue. Unfortunately you never answered the above post, so this might be redundant.
THX!
@haseimschnee Perfect! 👍 😎
Could you please share what you have change / how you fixed it. Then other users having the same issue can quickly solve it as well...
THX!
The changes need to be made in the router, that's all. There only the MAC address of the eBlocker has to be updated if the router has been set so that it always assigns the same private IP addresses, and of course the IP-MAC binding to protect against ARP spoofing, as far as the router supports this security feature. To be on the safe side, I have also renewed the security certificates in all monitored clients.
Hello
So far I have never had any problems and have been using the eBlocker successfully for years. Unfortunately I had to make some adjustments after the update like Mac and IP. The blocker does its job well, but unfortunately the Tor service is not working properly. . Unfortunately, everyone can see my IP and location with browser even though Tor is active.
Thanks for help.
Could it be that only the internal service is not working
Kings regards from Switzerland Pit
@pidiboy This thread is solved.
Please open a new thread with your particular issue and make sure to add all infos discussed here to get focused help: https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/before-posting-here-please-read/
All eBlocker services and Tor/VPN just work fine. Only know issue is the MAC address change which is discussed here: https://eblocker.org/community/bugs-features/known-issue-ip-and-mac-address-change-after-eos-2-5-upgrade/
Thanks very much for continuously using eBlocker - and we get you going again for sure 😉
