Hi everybody.
My System: eBlocker white cube, OS 2.5, HTTPS mode active, individual network mode, eBlocker IP fixed and DNS firewall active; MacBook Pro with OS 11.0.1 Big Sur;
My issue: After MacOS upgrade to OS 11.0.1 Big Sur Safari takes ages or doesn't load web sites at all such as Spiegel.de, Tagesschau.de or any scientific website that I use on a daily basis. However, Safari smoothly loads every homepage when working via eduroam with the same notebook at my university, or when switching the WLAN connection at home to my mobile's hotspot. To me the main difference between these different settting appears to be the eBlocker's presence or absence.
To make things even weirder: Firefox works properly in the eBlocker environment, and Safari did so until the OS 11-upgrade.
Has anybody experienced a siimilar problem
#thanks for you time, best wishes

I‘m on Win so I can‘t help in particular.
But to drill down to the cause have you tried disabling:
- eBlocker by pausing it (to make sure eBlocker is causing the issue)
- https for your device (as I suspect some certificate changes with the macOS update)
@bpr is on macOS - maybe he has an idea?
doesn't load web sites at all
It would be helpful if you share the error message or describe more in detail what that means. Blank screen after xyz minutes of wait?
Have you rechecked eBlocker‘s certificate status (must be root) or in the worst case renewed the cert completely (in eBlocker and reinstalled in client)?
THX!
Thanks for the replies so far.
And yes, I reinstalled the certificate after my system upgrade, both at the Mac system level for Safari and specifically for Firefox within the Firefox settings.
Unfortunately, there was no error message displayed. Safari just wasn't loading pages, only partially loading, or displaying an error message like 'no network connection'. At the same time Firefox was smoothly working. With Safari I couldn't even display the eBlockers dashboard to perform the certificate check. Again, this was possible with Firefox but meaningless since Firefox has its own certificate administration. Deleting the DNS cache didn't help either. And as I said, Safari immediately worked lightning fast when I connected the Notebook to my mobile's hotspot.
Now the good news is that this morning, apparently after todays nightly eBlocker update, Safari resumed functioning. Maybe some of you understand the cause. I'm just happy to be back with my standard workflow.

There was no change at all to certificates etc. Maybe just the reboot helped here?
Nevertheless, we are happy if you are happy 😀
So I guess we can mark this thread solved, right?
THX!
Well, happy, issue resolved, the thread can be marked correspondingly, Thanks and cheers.

One last hint: there was no reboot overnight at least not on the notebook side. Maybe this bugfix helped:
eBlockerOS 2.5.8
- Fix: DNS-Firewall beantwortet wieder Anfragen aller Typen, z.B. MX, PTR, TXT, etc.
- Fix: Der Funktionstest im Dashboard zeigt im Safari-Browser wieder korrekte Ergebnisse an
