Hi,

I know the new version of Eblocker is being developed, is there a way to add support for Apple TV (HTTPS). There is a way now to add the certificate but enabling https breaks it.

great product and thank you

@deepunder Thanks for your feedback.

To my knowledge Apple is not supporting certificates that got "side loaded" for HTTPS. But @bpr is more profound in the Apple space and might have other info.

Nevertheless, I just use iPad screen sharing to my AppleTV. Then I can stream videos from the eBlocker protected iPad without any ads. 😁 This works well with many private TV channels in Germany. Individual results may vary of course...

THX!

I tried to use Apple TV with HTTPS enabled but most apps like YouTube, Netflix, etc. don't work because they use certificate pinning. So you would have to define/enable a lot of trusted apps in eBlocker's HTTPS settings. For example, I could get the YouTube app working by enabling the YouTube trusted app in eBlocker.

(It seems to be a lot of work, but if anyone wants to experiment with that: you can install eBlocker's certificate by following the instructions at the bottom of this page and enter the URL to eBlocker's certificate http://EBLOCKER_IP/ api/ssl/caCertificate.crt as the profile URL.)

Maybe an easier approach is to use domain blocking. There seem to be some Smart TV-specific domain blocking lists, for example: https://github.com/Perflyst/PiHoleBlocklist

Best regards,

Boris
