[Solved] Donor license

Tried to enter my donor-licence-key under eOS 2.7.4 (Settings/License/ACTIVATE NEW LICENSE, accepting the EUPL, pasted my donor-license-key and filled the email-box)

As i still see ‘License type eBlocker Family’ and ‘Activated on 8 march 2021’, i must assume something went wrong or … i did something wrong.

Client OS: macOS/iOS
Browser: Safari, Firefox, Brave
eBlocker Hardware: RaspberryPi 4

@frankd @robfranssen-fr I'm not clear where you see a "problem".

The functionality to all licenses is "eBlocker Family". This means you have all features available. This is the case for all activated eBlockers.

For the Automatic Updates it should look like this after activating the license:

I think/hope that I have solved the problem: I have now first reset the old activation via "System/Reset/Activation Reset" and then inserted the new activation code.

It is confusing that under "Licence & Update/Licence/Activate new licence" it still says the old activation date of the first activation with the old code. However, if you reset the activation first, the current date is displayed.

@frankd There is no need to reset the license as the result in "Automatic Updates" is no difference.

If you feel "just for the beauty" to get an update on the initial licensing date, then yes: well done 😉

I assume it a little bit confusing that licence type remains named »eBlocker Family« allthough in fact the type of licence has beeing changed into »Donor-…«. But if updates are working, so what.

I agree it might be confusing and that's why I pinned this thread to find it more easily.

We've implemented this license solution (as voted by the community) rather quickly to cover the deficit more quickly. Please bear with us 😮 

Nevertheless, as long as the automatic updates work there is no reason for a change, you are completely right!

No reply but a confusing situation:

On december 3rd 2021  I donated 60€  per paypal and got a new licence code which I filled in. Today I got a message that automatic update ends on 31st decembre 2021.

What now?

Please compare the license keys: You‘ve received a license key in August (for your past donations) that is about to expire. This key is different to the new key you‘ve received after donating in December. The new key is valid for 12 month and needs to be activated (Settings > License & Updates > Activate New License). 

All this has been described in the email sent on Dec. 25th, but it seems the message was not clear. 🤔 Sorry for the confusion…

Hope it‘s clear now: just activate the license key you‘ve received last - and you are all set.

After a complete reset of my eBlocker, it is not possible to activate my license.

Error Message: 

"Incorrect format of the license key. Please check the entered license key"

The donation was done in 08/21 and is valid until 08 removed link

@chinmayo First, please make sure your eBlockerOS is at 2.7 or higher. Then please try copy/paste the key from the email (make sure, there are no extra characters at beginning or end selected).

Background: Older eBlockerOS <2.7 do not recognize the key. That‘s why the version 2.7 is pointed out as a requirement when you donate…

Dear Random, thx for your kind reply.

The eBlocker OS is on 2.8.2 

Same Error message again. I stored my license code in my one password wallet. It is a pity that the license code is not stored in my personal account, there is only the donation receipt. I read in thread that there was a license code update in december, maybe I overlooked it and deleted the message by accident.

@chinmayo A donor license key starts with "Donor". In your email a team colleague forwarded this morning, you've mentioned your license starts with "eDonor"... Just try to delete the "e" maybe... 😉

I have received a few days ago the confirmation of the payment of my annual license in which it says that I do not have to do anything, but can not activate the "automatic update" in the update and also it says under "license includes" --> "manual activation". A renewal has brought nothing, also I have not received a new license key by email? Does that work?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Your existing key (the one emailed to you initially) is  being extended in the backend, so there is no need for a new key.

I case you‘ve lost the email, we can look it up and resent it. 👍

Hi,
my "daily update" expired during my vacation absence. After my return I donated and received a new key via email. I entered this key and manually triggered an update. So far everything has worked. Unfortunately, there are no automatic updates since then and the date for the next update has not changed (see screenshot).
What did I do wrong or do I have to add?

No worries @joe. There is a know glitch that eBlocker is not showing the license end (see also out last newsletter regarding this issue).

But as you activated the new license key, I suppose the screenshot above will change overnight automatically - displaying the date before as the last update date.

If it doesn‘t update automatically please report back here and we investigate. Then the first thing I would try is to Reset the license (Settings>License&Update) and Active the new one again. You can also try to switch off auto updates first and switch back on after the new key activation…

thank you very much for your advice.
first I re-entered the licensing - that didn't cause any change.
Then I turned the automatic update off and on again - and now the next update date was set correctly. And very essential - the update was also executed !
