Hello

Does anyone have experience with the VPN provider Mullvad VPN, https://mullvad.net

I've got an account set up for a month. Then I created the ovpn file as described. Until now I still use Nord VPN, works without problems.

I am grateful for help.

Currently Raspi 3B with eblocker OS 2.4.5 Lifetime, Windows 10 Pro, Fritzbox 7560.

Hello

I have installed the eblocker opensource 2.5.2 on a new Raspberry Pi4, here the ovpn files of Mullvad VPN work fine.

This post can therefore be closed.

Hi all,

I currently encounter problems with the VPN provider Mullvad VPN.

I've got an account setup for a month. I created the OpenVPN configuration for Linux as described by Mullvad Webseite.

During the creation process of VPN profile in eBlocker backend, eBlocker modified the config file a bit, and accepted user pass and certificate file.

Connection test failed with reason "Timeout"

Detailed error messages:

Tue Jul 7 20:39:58 2020 NOTE: the current --script-security setting may allow this configuration to call user-defined scripts
Tue Jul 7 20:39:58 2020 WARNING: this configuration may cache passwords in memory -- use the auth-nocache option to prevent this

Maybe we could discuss VPN configs public since they don't contain credentions, do they?
After approving the MULLVAD VPN config, the contents should be added to the public
knowledgebase here.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers
Oliver

@illo Please upgrade to eOS 2.5 where the issue is fixed.

I‘ve joined your question to the existing topic as the question is answered already.

THX!

Hi @random

of course I read the post. But to be honeast, just upgrading to a new eBlocker version doesn't mean neccessarily that the the problem is solved generally. Because no reason for the malfunction nor the fix was explicitely and officially (by eBlocker maintainer) mentioned in the post.

Ok, so I'll upgrade to the eOS 2.5. But I didn't found a guide how to upgrade the OS of my white cube device since the old eOS upgrade mechanism just upgraded until v2.4.5

Is there already a kb article for such upgrade procedure?

tnx in advance

Oliver

@illo There are trillions of fixes in eOS 2.5 we have not mentioned. This is due to the fact that the underlying linuxOS has been updated which "automatically" fixed some bugs in components we rely on (as here with VPN). And BTW: this mullvpn issue has not been verified by us nor the bugfix has. We trust our users if they say "it works now"...

We'll be releasing an eOS 2.5 image for the Banana Pi M2+ (white cube) this week. PLS wait for the newsletter announcing this to come up soon. BUT this image is recommended ONLY if you are a hardware DIY guy (as you need to remove the board and install eOS on SD card). If that's not your cup of tea, please wait until we can release the official "white cube" update which also preserves all configs. We hope to release this during this month.

THX!

ok, I see. Now it's clear to me. Hopefully I can verify the "automatic" fix of my issue, too. So that we would have to independent testers/voices regarding Mullad VPN.

Both options are fine to me.

It would be fine to have a feature for exporting and importing the config of eBlocker in conjunction with installing the eOS on SD card as described in your DIY manual.

The only thing I need are hints for disassembling the white cube w/o damaging the nice housing.

@illo Just wanted to let you know, that the „white cube“ eOS 2.5 image is available on the download page now. Good luck for the upgrade. If you find bugs pls post in the eOS 2.5 bugs thread.

Hi @random,

tnx for the info. I'll download the upgrade and apply it to my white cube. Yeah, I'll report bug for sure. 😉

Is there probably a hidden feature in eBlocker to export and import all the settings?

If not, would it be a nice feature to implement in the future? THen I would raise a feature request.

Tnx and regards,

Oliver

Settings>System>Reset. The „save settings“ button will export many but not all settings.

Full export is on the agenda already. But update of white cubes comes first...

THX!
