Hello,

in the actual eBlocker OS the admin password reset is not working as it should be.

It displays the following pictures and after a power off and restart the login mask is still with password.

@calimero Have you tried the reset password on the VM-Edition only - or is this with the regular Raspi image as well?

Maybe it has never been tested on a VM and it's a bug?

To my best knowledge password reset works on all hardware boards.

THX!

@random one user on discord told me about this and he is using a raspberry pi 4 on which this is not working. I will test that also tomorrow on my raspi to verify that on the hardware too. I've tested that on my vm install.

Thanks and regards

Well, among professional supporters I feel it's a good idea to verify the facts first rather than spreading hearsay.

As a professional, you will also surely check this forum first. Therefore please take this post into account for your verification: https://eblocker.org/community/bugs-features/password-recovery/#post-723

THX!

@random Maybe you go a little more slowly through my initial post and you'll get it 🙂

I've installed a fresh Raspi myself with the latest 3.0.3 image and there this bug also exists

So now I've tested and verified TWO different systems (Raspi 4 and VM) and the user from discord who reported me this has this problem on his Raspi 4.

Hope this is enough for you, MoD

Best regards

update: Additionally the mentioned reset via USB is also not working ( https://eblocker.org/en/docs/reset-to-factory-settings/#1-toc-title)

So for the end user who lost his eBlocker admin password the only solution is to reimage the sdcard or you have another way for them to recover the eblocker access.

Many thanks

update 2: as you have added later another link, I will try to check that.

This should be added to the documentation of the password reset, as this is mandatory to know.

Thanks again

@random

Thank you for the hint to this old post.

With another browser the password reset was working fine.

Have a great day

regards

Sorry, but maybe it's my English/German but I don't understand what you say 🤔 The "edit" of "edit" updates makes it even worse.

Honestly, I'd suggest to use deepl.com to ease communication and rather add new posts than constant re-edits of submitted posts. Thanks 👍

Nevertheless, from your last message I get you've solved your/the users issue. Great!

BTW: I'm happy to add a comment in the docu and write a github issue if you could please restate which browser you/the user has used initially and which worked finally worked.

THX!

@random Good morning random.

My normal used browser is edge and I assume it has to do something with the browser cache.

A fresh and clean Brave browser and the "In Private window" from edge did the trick

thanks again
