Hallo,
would like to reactivate my eblocker again and migrate to latest OS version. If I try to manual update
- there are 89 updates displayed (see the sceenshot below)
- I can start the update process and it starts with displaying the update progress with 0%
- a short time later the update process ends without an error, but the update wasn't done
- if I try to do it again and again - exactly the same behavier like described obove
I would like to support eblocker development with monthly donations, but therefor I need to run 2.7 as far as I unterstood
@rumahu I guess this can be fixed if you follow the instructions here: https://eblocker.org/docs/update-recovery/
After this procedure eBlockerOS will update to 2.5.8 first - which then can be updated to the latest open source eBlockerOS version. If you run into issues please come back here - and we also appreciate a success feedback 😉
Good luck 🍀
THX!
Many thanks for the very fast anwser. I proceeded along the instructions but finally could not resolve the problem. But when I start the update process now there is a difference to the behavier before . I get the following screen ("no data available) as the last screen before the update process ends
@rumahu I‘m not sure what the screenshot shows as its barely readable. Sorry. Please retake & repost.
Nevertheless I‘d reboot eBlocker. Make sure eBlocker has Internet connection (disable any MAC address based blocking/child protection, if enabled). Retry update. After „blank“ screen, maybe just clear browser cache and reload settings or try a different browser.
If it fails still, please send email with diagnosis report (Settings > System > Diagnosis Report) to support at eBlocker.org
THX!
@random hallo, I will send you the diagnosis report and the screen video of the update process (... video time line 00:00:48 shows 'no data available screen') via email to support@eblocker.org.
I rebooted eblocker, checked Internet connection configuration in my router (Fritzbox7590) and used Firefox and Edge Browser, but the update problem still exists.
Thank very much.
Thank you for the diagnostics report.
Unfortunately, the eBlocker can't be updated any more because a previous update failed. The update recovery that you tried works only with 2.7.4 and later.
So the only way to update your eBlocker is to use an external SD card.
You could do the following:
- Download the image for Banana Pi M2+ from https://eblocker.org/eblockeros-download/
- Write this to an SD card (8 GB or larger) with Balena Etcher
- Open the case and extract the board
- Insert the SD card into the M2+ board
Or you could buy a Raspberry Pi (2 GB RAM recommended). Currently there seem to be some supply chain issues, so they are often sold out.
I have attached a few images that show how to open the case.
Hi, I removed the SD Card an realizied, that the old OS ver 2.5.4 is running again.
Do I have to leave the SD Card in the banana pi for ever ?
Yes, you have to leave the SD card in the board.
If an external SD card is present, the board boots from that.
