Suddenly I was being unable to reach any website. Firefox on my iPhone told me, it would being unable to establish a secure connection. So I have switched off eBlocker. Instantly all internet connection worked well as expected.

So, I was looking at the eBlocker Doctor. There was a red marker at the DNS topic. Due to avoid the small display of the iPhone I took my MacBook, opened the eBlocker configuration site. But now, the DNS topic was marked in green. Back to the iPhone everythink worked well again.

Where can I find what has happened when the DNS topic was temporarly marked in red and avoid the browser to establish any connection to any website?

If relevant: I am using the eBlocker in connection with a Fritzbox 7490. But, as far as I can assess, the Fritzbox is configured as recommended in the eBlocker manual.

Client OS
Browser
eBlocker hardware
Client OS version
Browser version
eBlockerOS version

@facebita The only DNS-related issue that is reported as error (i.e. appears red) is when the eBlocker itself cannot resolve DNS names (eBlocker cannot resolve DNS names (Severe warning)). This check is performed in the very moment that you open the Doctor UI. So if the underlying problem goes away a few seconds later, the error will disappear without a trace.

Maybe you configured an unreliable DNS server in the DNS Firewall settings?

Just until now I had configured eBlocker as DNS firewall with external DNS server. As external DNS server was being set 192.168.178.1. Just now I have entered the IP addresses of Freifunk München 5.1.66.255 and 185.150.99.255. Now I am curious how it works.

Curiosity killed the cat - and the DNS coverage 😉

After the next outage you might want to switch to 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9 for reliability reasons... This is what's set as default in eBlocker when switching to external DNS servers.

THX!

I have added the servers recommended at www.opennic.org. Is it okay?

Is it okay?

You'll find out.😉

But please remember: If DNS fails, it's not eBlocker's fault but the DNS server‘s you've provided! This is not within the scope of our support...

THX!

Sorry, I know that you always of short time. So I tryed to find experiance with a "vodafon tg3442de cable router". Search function shows nothing. So the question, is there any expearance with it? This seamed to be a not prefered router by you? According to my experience, I am now supposed to help many inexperienced friends. Can this router be protected by the eBlocker? The configuration is propiritarian and can hardly be changed.

here what I found:Betreff: TG3442DE / CGA4233DE DNS change  Simple Answer: No, it's not possible. (DHCP Server can't be changed too!)

Or is it better, but more expensive, to buy a Fritzbox cable?

@willifly I‘m not sure if your post is related to this thread’s topic at all? It helps everyone to open a meaningful topic and stick to it… 🤔

How do you come to this (wrong) conclusion?

There is no preference for any router as 99.9% of all routers work just fine. My personal preference for a good router setup is discussed here btw https://eblocker.org/community/bugs-features/domain-blocker-dns-firewall-status-shows-red-exclamation-marks/#post-4105

I would recommend to address your topic „problem based“. If you feel there is a problem with your vodafone router, name the problem (best in a new thread) and we try to solve it.

THX!
