Hello, i was noticing some adds got through and did some checking using the following website :

https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock.html

I added the d3host blocklist (hosts file) to Domain Ad Blocker in the eBlocker interface. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/d3ward/toolz/master/src/d3host.txt

But still fastclick.com got through?

fastclick

So i did a tracert fastclick.com and that also went through.
If i do a tracert to fastclick.net it tells me it can't find the host

fastclick1

So 1 is working but the other isn't? Where do i solve/find this issue?
Fastclick.net was working by default, Fastclick.com just goes through.

Client OS
Browser
eBlocker hardware
eBlockerOS version

@mwbreur Please read this thread as the "adblocker test" in question is discussed there already: https://eblocker.org/community/main-forum/adblocker-test/#

Brief summary: This "adblocker test" is pure nonsense.

Nevertheless, if you feel "fastclick.com" needs to be blocked, please provide a tracking link used on a website pointing to this domain to proof this domain is used for tracking at all. To my knowledge the former fastclick (ValueClick) tracked only thru the fastclick.net domain. So there is no need to block the .com as this would be so called "overblocking". But this is just a minor detail 😉

Please make sure you understand the difference between Domain Blocking and Pattern Blocking first. See here: https://eblocker.org/docs/domain-pattern-malware-phishing-blocker-what-is-what/

Brief summary: The Domain Blocker is only used on clients where eBlocker HTTPS is disabled (or where the Domain Blocker is explicitly set to be used by the user). If the client is eBlocker HTTPS enabled the Pattern Blocker is used instead of the Domain Blocker (by default). Hence, everything you add to the Domain Blocker is not used on this client.

To add to the Pattern Blocker you could add a pattern rule like ".fastclick.". Here again: make sure you understand the concept and how patterns work in detail (see here for the pattern syntax) . Otherwise adding more rules can easily result in many sites not working anymore.

Personally, I'd recommend to leave everything "as is" unless you are a tech/tracking geek who knows exactly what to do. Then we happily invite you to join our team 😉

BTW: We are anti-tracking geeks and are constantly monitoring and compiling the blocking lists for all eBlocker users. This is done with great care and convenience in mind: So for instance, we try to pinpoint just the "bad URL" and usually never block the whole domain (if not necessary), so most websites still work as expected (but without getting tracked).

If you still feel you want to add more blockers, please see this article first: https://eblocker.org/docs/where-can-i-find-block-lists-on-the-internet/

THX!
