I want to configure a remote Mac for using my eBlocker mobile. But this Mac can not be brought into my WLAN. What do I have to bring personally from my WLAN to this Mac in order to configure it for using my eBlocker mobile VPN?

Sketch:

My Mac (((WLAN))) (Fritzbox/eBlocker) < - Internet/eBlocker mobile - > remote Mac

Client OS
Browser
eBlocker hardware
Client OS version
Browser version
eBlockerOS version

@pio78 @facebita The idea of eBlocker Mobile is to connect a mobile device to your eBlocker. When we designed the feature we felt that any mobile device can be easily connected to the eBlocker LAN for configuration (otherwise it‘s not mobile and hence not a typical/intended use case for eBlocker Mobile).

Of course one can „re-use“ an OpenVPN config from a different device as @pio78 suggested as work-around. BUT then this device needs to be configured in all aspects correctly (i.e. Blockers, HTTPS, Controlbar/Icon, User Assignment etc.).

So I‘d guess it‘s easier to just briefly connect the mobile device to the eBlocker LAN and proceed as intended.

THX!

@random May I explain: We are living in a rapidly eldering society. So, I think, many of us have to supervise the computers of their parents or other people, who are not familiar to »the internet«. So, it would be very useful to bind their computers into the networks of their adult descendants, who are able and willingful to protect their parents from any danger of »the internet«. Therefore, I want to configure such a Mac as a client of my own eBlocker VPN, not at least in order to install a remote access to their a device.

And if you think, this special feature is worth to be paid for additionally: No problem. It's at all less expensive than all the troubleshooting via telephone or on-site travelling.

@facebita I understand the problem but eBlocker Mobile might not be the best solution here. (Germans say „Wer nur einen Hammer kennt, für den wird jedes Problem zum Nagel“ 😉).

So the tool I’d suggest for the „problem“ of remote management of computers is not eBlocker Mobile but a Remote Desktop Tool like TeamViewer, VNC, MS RDP etc. Remember: eBlocker Mobile just connects the remote computer to the eBlocker network but it can not be used to manage/access the connected device. For sure elderly parents need help not only with eBlocker setup but with „everything computer“.

For protecting „remote parents“ I‘d rather install an eBlocker in their network and use a remote desktop tool for management in case of questions.

THX!
