Hello,
Is it possible to bind a specific IP with the DHCP Server?
Like. I have an IP range from x.x.x.150-250. now there is a device which only gets IP through DHCP but it should be a specific IP Out of the normal DHCP range.
Its a normal Feature within AVM Fritzbox.
@jotbed I'm not sure if I understood you right, but I try to give a comprehensive overview:
With eBlocker's Expert Network Mode you can easily set up an IPv4 address range (Setting> Network):
To instruct the eBlocker DHCP server to always assign the same address to the same device, select the device under Settings> Devices and check the "Always assign the same IP to this device" switch. This is the default setting btw.
If you want to assign a fixed IPv4 address that's not within the DHCP range, just set the fixed IP in the OS of your client manually.
Hope this helps.
THX!
I dont want a greater range but normaly i sort my IPs.
But some device only handle DHCP.
At Fritzbox you can assign a specific IP that the device gets when IT asks after an IP at the DHCP Server.
Its also a Feature of DHCP at pihole and adguardhome.
@jotbed Now I think I understood what you want. 👍 There is a simple work around to set a given fixed IPv4 within the DHCP range:
- Set the desired IP manually/static in your device OS (within the DHCP range).
- Have eBlocker scan the network (Settings> Devices, Tab Device Discovery, hit Discover New Devices button).
- Then switch your device OS back from static IP to DHCP.
- eBlocker will then set the same given IPv4 via DHCP to the device as long as the switch to assign the same IP is enabled (see above).
And btw: If you have a DHCP sever in place where you assigned given IP address to individual devices (say your fritzbox), then after switching to eBlocker's DHCP will keep all IP addresses the very same as before.
THX!
Yeah. That workaround is okay.
But Not really the best solution. I have some devices where i cannot Set the IP.
But if there is no such Implementation......i have to live with it.
Thx für your Help.
