eBocker White Cube
connected with LAN cable to
Vodafone FRITZ!Box 6591 Cable KI
Up to now the eBlocker worked perfectly. Since the update tonight, it can no longer be reached via the old IP address and is no longer listed in the Fritzbox network.
I have reactivated the DHCP of the Fritz Box and restarted the Fritz Box and eBlocker. The LEDs are flashing, but nothing has changed.
What can I do?
@hatutau This looks like, the internal partition has been crashed.
I don't know, if you are firm with linux to reflash it on your own, or if there is an other (easy) way to repair the interal installation,
So the easiest way for you is to flash a microsd card with the image for the white cube and place it inside the cube and boot it up.
Thank you very much for the help. Unfortunately, I have no idea about such things. Where can I get the image file for the white cube?
Since there is no official support for the eBlocker anymore, I hope someone from the developers of the update can give a hint.
I don't understand how this could happen through the automatic update. Everything was working fine.
It looks like, you powered off the device too early, as it did not respond. My Whitecube also took a very long time for the latest update and when it will be interrupted, the installation will be destroyed.
The white cube itself has 4Gb internal storage, and and extra MicroSD slot.
You can download the image under Software -> Download & DIY and select the image for Banana Pi M2 (eBlockerOS Download)
Follow the instructions on how to flash the sd card and insert it in the white cube.
Have you already opened it?

Sven
Since there is no official support for the eBlocker anymore
This is incorrect. We are fully supporting the white cubes with our project.
I don't understand how this could happen through the automatic update.
The white cubes are about five years old and we are surprised most of them are working fine still. Nevertheless, things break after time - and the build-in eMMC memory (similar to SD/SSD) is especially stressed, when lots of data are being written. This is the case with every update.
To revive your white cube, please follow the instructions given here: https://eblocker.org/community/bugs-features/original-white-cube-update-from-eblocker-os-2-5-6-not-successful/#post-5698
Good luck 🍀

Same issue.
I have waited at least 30min before I have noticed the message "System is shutdown'" or similar. Then I have turned off and on again and couldn't reach the Cube anymore.
Same issue.
Are you sure the eMMC is broken? I‘m asking as there can be many reasons why an eBlocker can‘t be reached. (for example just a new IP address from the router after reboot).
I have noticed the message "System is shutdown'" or similar. Then I have turned off and on again
If you disconnected power while it was shutting down: not a good idea. Likelihood this breaks something is naturally high…
In case the eMMC is fried please follow the steps discussed above. Otherwise please open a new thread (this thread here is solved!) and share more details about your setup and what you‘ve tried so far (see here: https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/before-posting-here-please-read/#post-117 )
THX!
I was not in a hurry and have waited for at least 30 min, the eBlocker must have freezed. After the reboot I have been seen the same screenshot as @hatutau has postet.
I have no further information about the eBlocker because I have no access anymore. If I can fix it, I will share it with you.
@siciliano 👍 Just follow the instructions above and you‘ll be fine.
Nevertheless, it seems we have a few white cube users reporting this. Could be a sign the end of life (of the eMMC) is coming soon for more user‘s… We‘ll keep watching it.
THX!
Are you linux affin? then it would be an idea to flash an sd with the latest armbian os and boot it up in the white cube.
Inside armbian, you can make an image of the internal emmc flash and maybe post a DL link for troubleshooting the failure
cheers

Hi there!
First of all:
I´m a bit older person (with low experience and interest in programming, IT-constructing)...enduser....eblocker-customer from Kickstarter-times on, back then with lifetime-license and in the end with automatic updates
After the update 22.04. (!) my White cube stopped generating the IP-adresses for my (a bit bigger) network (incl. PV, power storage, emergency power, alarm....) what is or was necessary with an Fritzbox 7490. Due to the hardwares age I think it makes no sense to reconfigurate it.
I was happy I could reboot the Fritzbox using a connected FritzFon.
It took me one and a half days to set up an new network (without eblocker) and as long the Fritzbox 7490 is working, there will be no eblocker-return....sorry!
But in a few weeks I will update my equipment with an Fritzbox 7590ax-router...and here are my questions:
1. with that 7590ax thing the IP-adresses must not be generated by the eblocker but can be generated by the router...right?
2. is there anybody that offers the delivery of a new eblocker (OS 2.9 on a Raspberry Pi 4 or even higher with "hardcore"-power-adapter) I can just plug in!?... I guess I´m too old/stupid/disabled (yes, as an officially handicaped and retired person I´m allowed to say that) for trying it myself...my cats and dogs can´t call the stroke unit 😉
3. Only in case there´s nobody: Do I need the raspberry-OS first to install the eblocker-OS on the Raspi? I suggest NO, but ???
4. More or less as a joke (we´re in Germoney;-): How can I save my old license??
Sorry for "no idea" and bad english - the music-times I spent in Seattle / and a bit with technical issues are about 30 years ago.

I try to answer very short your questions:
1) Yes, you're right
2) Not here, but you can mail me if you want and we can get in touch to clarify things
3) You only need to download the image and flash it on an USB Stick/SDCard and place it in the Raspi for it to work! Nothing else to do there
4) As far as I know, you can reuse the license you already have. If this it not working directly, this will be fixed
