I would like to enable IPv6 in my Fritzbox 7490 in order to make my Tor Bridge running on a Raspi make more available for people how suffer from internet restrictions. Will enabling IPv6 cause trouble on eBlocker?

eBlocker hardware
eBlockerOS version

Yes. IPv6 will by-pass eBlockerOS at the moment.

The good news: We have planned to implement IPv6 support next. See here: https://eblocker.org/?mailpoet_router&endpoint=view_in_browser&action=view&data=WzY4LCI5MjY4NDNiZWQxMDEiLDAsMCwyOTUzLDFd

Just for your info. For one of my domains i changed hosting provider. Both myself and a guy from their helpdesk, using TeamViewer QuickSupport, could not configure the Email addresses on their servers.

Only after i switched the use of IPv6 in my FRITZ!Box to ON, setting up Email was smooth and easy. Hope IPv6 will be implemented in eBlocker real soon indeed.

FYI: IPv6 is not related to apps not working instantly like teamviewer, mega, … Again, switching IPv6 ON is the same as disabling eBlocker completely!

As a long term user you might know that eBlocker HTTPS is mostly the cause for app issues. Reason is so called certificate pinning which the app uses to improve security.

To solve all app related issues it’s usually sufficient to mark the app‘s communication domains as Trusted Domains (or just enable the pre-defined Trusted App, if available - like teamviewer…). See Settings>HTTPS>Trusted Apps/Domians.

You can easily verify this fact by disabling HTTPS for your device at Settings>Devices <select device>. Last: We recommend less tech savvy users to not enable HTTPS and stick with the basic Domain Blocker protection. Then all apps will work most likely.

And yes, IPv6 will be supported in a few weeks - but this will not change the certificate pinning of apps - of course 😉

THX!
