i'm using nxfilter.org as my dns server on a pi4 and setup a local domain (hostnames.myhouse.local) the local domain is controlled by a bind9 vm - so in nxfilter i have a simple rule that all queries matching *.myhouse.local are send to the bind9 vm and all other is going to the public ones - looks like this

i could not find any option like this in eblocker - is this possible?

i would like to use ping hostname without specifying always ping hostname.myhouse.local - or must i put all already defined hostnames into the local network so i don't need bind9 anymore?

further i have some public domains and all of them are routed within my local network to the local ip's and i use this dns redirects as well for domains some hardware/software would contact all the time (more or less a simple block and if some data is needed - i redirect this to a node-red instance and grab the needed data there) - i use the eblocker vm on my kvm host - can eblocker replace my nxfilter installation?

@holli73 You might know that eBlocker is not a simple DNS filter like pihole or nxfilter et al, but rather a technology to identify trackers and ads by patterns in the full URL, not just the domain name. eBlocker then only blocks the malicious URL but is not restricting the access to other URLs of the particular domain.

In case you combine eBlocker with DNS filter tech as discussed above this results rendering eBlocker's advanced URL pattern matching useless. See also here: https://eblocker.org/en/magazine/tips-and-tricks-for-eblockeros/

Nevertheless, you can add local domains to eBlocker's DNS via Settings>DNS Firewall>(Tab) Local Domains.

But honestly, I fear you are looking for a different solution to your DNS tasks and don't need the power of eBlocker for this. Same as if you are looking for a mower and ask Ferrari if their car can also mow the lawn if run in the first gear only. 😉

THX!
