Hi,
I'm new in the forum and I can't find detailed information how to update an "old" original eBlocker 2 white cube with eBlocker OS 2.0.13 and lifetime license to new OS 2.5.8 with FAMLFT-OPENSOURCE license.

I tried to activate the new license with the above license code but there is no change. I then checked for manual updates in the update section but there were no updates available.
I usually access the cube via Chrome on a Mac with Catalina 10.15.7.
If I can manage to update the white cube I would be glad to support the project.

Your "lifetime" license should update your eBlocker to eOS 2.4. (even it sounds clear: please make sure your eBlocker has full Internet access - ie. no MAC address blocking in your router takes place and eBlocker is not connected to the "guest" port. This is the most common mistake!).

If it doesn't update to 2.4 still, please update to Open Source license as discussed here: https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/how-to-switch-to-open-source-license/

After switching the license reboot eBlocker (Settings>System>Reboot).

Then follow this post: https://eblocker.org/community/announcements/eblockeros-2-5-available-for-all-devices/

If this still fails, please try: https://eblocker.org/community/main-forum/white-cubes-with-eblockersos-1-14-8-and-how-update-to-eblockersos-2-5/

Good luck.

Hi Random,

thank you for your quick reply.

Yes, my eBlocker has full Internet access (no guest network, no MAC address blocking). It is connected to a FritzBox 6490 cable via LAN port 3.

With my white cube I have purchased a license "eBlocker Family LIFETIME" and I still have problems updating the eBlockerOS. At the moment my eBlocker uses eBlockerOS version 2.0.13 and I cannot update it to version 2.5, although I have entered the license code "FAMLFT-OPENSOURCE" before.

After that I have you made a complete Factory Reset (settings>system>reset) and reentered the license "FAMLFT-OPENSOURCE"? No success. All that changed was the activation date.

After factory reset boot I also have checked the time in settings>system>events. Date and time of last event are correct with date 20. Jan. 2021. But it still says that there are no updates available.

Is there another way or to reset or do I have to go for the eBlocker-2.5.6-banana-pi-m2plus Image?

Sorry I did't manage to add a screenshot.

THX

Update:

I couldn't update my pre-installed eOS (in eMMC), so I installed 2.5.6. on a SD card (and say goodbye to eMMC = onboard memory). Now it works and the cube updated to 2.5.8.

But there is still one question: before I executed the update I saved the settings (Trusted Apps and Trusted Websites). Now I wanted to restore these settings, but in the reset section it says that besides the Trusted Apps and Trusted Websites also the Device and the Tor settings will be restored.
What happens if I restore the old "device" settings? For example the IP-address, the OS, the updates and the license?

THX

@chrismit I'm happy the update via SD went well, although it's strange that update from eMMC didn't work. 🤔

Regarding the backup: It only backups your config but not the license. So I'd recommend to install the backup unless you want to reconfigure everything anew. Please be aware that the backup only contains 95% of the settings. So it's advised to recheck if everything is in place still 😉
