[Solved] Trouble Setting up NORD VPN

Hi,

I just purchased NordVPN. It also works with the provided NordVPN app, but I am failing to set it up using eBlocker. There seems to be authentication failures, which I cannot explain.

As recommended on your website, I was choosing one of those UDP-Files as part of the zip-file of our web-site.

I added my credentials to the wizard and everything seems to be set up properly.

"Test Connection" says 

Unable to authenticate. This may have different causes, such as

  • your VPN user name or password is incorrect
  • your VPN account is expired or invalid
  • the VPN profile is wrong or corrupted

Errors

Mon Oct  2 12:16:59 2023 WARNING: --ping should normally be used with --ping-restart or --ping-exit
Mon Oct  2 12:16:59 2023 NOTE: the current --script-security setting may allow this configuration to call user-defined scripts
Mon Oct  2 12:16:59 2023 WARNING: this configuration may cache passwords in memory -- use the auth-nocache option to prevent this
Mon Oct  2 12:17:05 2023 AUTH: Received control message: AUTH_FAILED

and in eblocker it says then

"This VPN profile is currently in use by at least on device" and "Test Connection" got disabled. There is no such device using a connection at the moment.

I have no idea where to look further. Do you have any recommendation how to continue?

From the error message I can only guess your VPN account license is limited to one/few connections.

To solve:

  1. Disconnect all devices from VPN.
  2. Use eBlocker only to connect to VPN (=only one device seen by VPN provider 😁).
  3. To connect multiple devices use eBlocker Anonymization (via VPN) on all your devices instead (no app or other client software!).

Thanks for your reply. I should have 6 devices to connect with the NordVPN license. So I guess that limit is not the issue. I also disconnected the app before I set up eBlocker. Hence there should have been be no other device connected simultaneously.

I just tried to establish the connection via viscosity (a VPN client on MAC). And I failed as well, even though I have other VPN connections successfully running.

I will contact NordVPN. With my last experiment it seems that eBlocker is not causing the issue.

One step foward ... indeed I was using the wrong credentials for openVPN, I had to use different ones. My fault - sorry.

 

Anyway, now as I was successfully able to establish a VPN connection, I am facing another problem. eBlocker does neither block any ads, nor does the Privacy check on the eblocker website tell me about the redirected IP address. It is still my real IP. Also there is no eBlocker icon showing up anymore.

 

I added VPN via the device config permanently to my machine. It also says "connected" in the anonymization pane of the device setting. 

 

Any recommendation for this?

Restarting "everything" seems to solve the issue.
