Hello,
what makes the eBlocker to a better choice than Opera browser for example?
Opera has included VPN/IP-anonymizing, the 'do-not'track'-option, anti-AD, protection of bad websites and so on ...
DNS rerouting can be modified in common Routers (DNS over TLS) or even in the system control/network of Windows
I'm really fascinated by eBlocker, especially because it was not so easy the get started with and I learned a lot by doing.
But is it more secure than a well chosen browser?
Perhaps that is a not so intelligent question, I don't know.
Thanks for your explanation!
@mofa A browser (like opera) only protects your surfing habits while surfing with that particular browser.
eBlocker protects you on network level and protects all communication of all devices - including tracking in apps, in the OS or on devices without any user interface (say a media server or NAS). So no matter which devices, apps or browsers you are using - eBlocker has you fully covered - without need for any software installation.
And unfortunately: today very much tracking comes from apps and devices OS. That's why all browser based solutions (also plugins for instance) fall short.
eBlocker is (to my knowledge) the only technology also covering HTTPS streams on network level. Due to URL pattern matching, eBlocker's protection is much superior than with a simple DNS blocker.
In Europe (due to GDPR) many companies switch to First Party Tracking to hide the tracking service behind the company's domain. For instance they install a gooddomain.com/badFirstPartyTracker.js tracking script. A simple DNS blocker (like pihole for example) can only block the full domain not giving you access at al. eBlockerOS only blocks the bad URL (/badFirstPartyTracker.js) but gives you full access to the gooddomain.com.
Also there are other advantages like network wide Malware Blocking, Cloaking or Tor routing which work independent of the browser. Not to talk about the cross device Parental Controls, for protecting the youngest in your family. etc pp.
Hope this helps.
THX!
