First of all, thanks for all the effort !!!
I was looking in the documentation and in the forum but I didn't find nothing related with this topic.
It's is posible to force a "safe search" in the google, bing searchers pages for the devices under eBlocker control?
Thanks in advance !!!!
Best regards
Nacho
@nac Safe Search is usually enabled by default at most search engines. It rather needs to be disabled purposely.
If you are looking for child protection I would recommend to enable eBlocker's Parental Contols. This way you make sure any "unwanted" domain is blocked - whether it shows up in an "unsafe" search engine or somewhere else.

@random Hi !!!
Thanks for your answerd!!! The safe search is not allways become activated by default and if you have the eBlocker Parental control activated, which I have, and the safe search deactivated and search for the word "ponography" in the searcher, the images inside the searcher are not controlled by eBlocker. the links to the expecific porn website yes, but no the images on the searcher. (try it)
It would very helpfull if the "safe search" could be force on the devices controlled by eBlocker.
Making some diging about that, I found this instruction from Google to force all the search to the safe search server
removed link
this is an extract for linux
- Open Terminal.
- Enter the command
ping forcesafesearch.google.com
and note the IP address. The IP address will look like: 216.239.38.120. - Enter the command
sudo nano /etc/hosts
. - Create an entry at the end of the hosts file with the IP address you obtained. For example:
216.239.38.120 www.google.com #forcesafesearch
.- Important: Copy this line for any other Google country domains your users may use, like www.google.co.uk.
- Save the hosts file
I don't know if this can be done in any way by eBlocker
Best regards

@nac I see your point regarding the preview images. The world is bad 😉
Unfortunately the forum software automatically removes posted links from new users. Sorry.
From what I understand of the above, it's just a different IP to be used for google safe search. If so, you can simply add this yourself to eBlocker's DNS as follows:
- Under Settings > DNS Firewall make sure it's enabled.
- Choose Local Network in the Tab.
- Click ADD and add the domain and IP as mentioned above in your post (Important: Please do not at the #forcexyz as this is just a comment!)
- Done. Next time you go to the mentioned domain, the given IP address will be used instead of the "regular" IP address.
For testing make sure to empty the DNS cache of your device first! Usually this can be done by rebooting the device.
From my standpoint I would not add this as a "feature" as it's very simple to add by the interested user. In addition it would turn out to become a maintenance issue as we need to follow possible IP changes by Google and others to keep this working constantly. But as this is a community project maybe someone wants to tackle this in future. 👍
Hope this helps and good luck 🍀
THX!
Thanks !!!
Work like a charm 🙂
I think it would be a good feature, let me explain:
- A list of "safe search" for different search companies... google, bing...
- This list has to be used like another black or white list
- updated automatically
- Assigned indecently for each device or user....
For a expert user it's true that is easy to do it manually, but the MAIN goal of eBlocker is to be use without IT knowledge. That is were eBlocker is revolutionary 😉
Normally I use Pi-Hole but I'm testing eBlocker to recommend it to my friends and family with the subscription for auto update (and probably I will keep it for me also).
